The Rock Camp Movie

https://www.rockcampthemovie.com

I couldn’t turn it off.

Rock and roll is a religion. It’ not taken seriously, but to a certain segment of society, it’s everything.

We’re not talking about people who go to the show to hear the hits, we’re talking about people who know all the album tracks, who don’t talk during the show because they’re afraid they’ll miss something.

And today’s generation is…missing something, that is.

It’s all we had.

That’s hard to comprehend in 2021, where more stimulation, more entertainment than you could consume in multiple lifetimes, is at your fingertips. We were truly bored, we were not all connected, but the music got us through.

Now anybody successful is considered a rock star. But that’s not the way it used to be. “Rock star” was a state of mind. A decision to go down the road less taken with no safety net, no backup plan. Most people turned back. Some burned out, some died, but then…there are the icons. Not only do we know their songs, we’re convinced we know them, and if we could just get closer, we’re dying to get closer.

Our last dying wish would be dinner with a rock star. We’re loaded with questions. But most people never get the opportunity. But if you pay for Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp…you’ll get the opportunity to hang with a musician or two who’s a household name, and a bunch of supporting players, who might have portfolio, but you’re unaware of it.

Summer camp…if you haven’t been, I feel sorry for you. The rest of the world falls away, you form tight bonds and then it ends and you’re depressed, you can’t wait to go back, but another year has to pass. David Fishof has tried to recreate this experience. For those who can afford it. Which is not many. And it’s also for players, and most people can’t play, but if you’ve got the talent and the bread, if you want to participate, it could be a dream come true.

Not that the idea is not entirely ersatz.

David Fishof is a hustler. A teddy bear who knows how to make money. He repped athletes, and then he went into music, putting together Ringo’s All Starr Band tour. And that’s one of the most interesting arcs of the movie. How Fishof is a promoter, someone who makes something happen, out of nothing. People talk, but few do. Actually, few attempt. And the first camp, back in the nineties, was a financial disaster, but Fishof kept on. Very little is easy in this world, even though media tries to convince us we’re one step away from stardom. No way. You’ve got to climb mountains, you’ve got to be parched and starve, you’ve got to be broke, and you have to be able to write a song as good as “It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll)” and have the inspiration to put a bagpipe in the track. That’s what separates the winners from the losers, the stars from the also-rans. Writing the songs. Anybody can follow in the footsteps, but can you blaze the trail? Few do.

So making a movie about the camp. Whose idea was this? I mean isn’t it just a giant ad for the camp, quite a good one? Yes. But when they roll into the Fishof life story you start to roll your eyes, he’s not a star. But he’s the star of this movie.

Yes, about halfway through you realize…THEY’RE MAKING A REAL MOVIE! Most rock movies are not. Here the production values are a ten, and there’s a story. But do we care about the story? NOT REALLY! We just want to see the stars, get closer to the music.

So, it dawns on the viewer that the producers are taking this seriously, I’m sure in the back of their minds they thought awards were possible. They’re not. So, you’ve got an autistic kid. Sorry. But many do. How many have the money to send them to ANY KIND of camp? Very few. Which means the life stories don’t really ring true. And they’re somewhat artificial, especially when the drummer Pistol tells his story to his lined up family, it’s awkward. But ultimately his tears are real.

I mean who is out of the loop?

Maybe youngsters, maybe hip-hop fans. But for the rest of us, this music is in our DNA. But it’s fading into the past. Heroes die with barely a blip anymore. Len Barry? Gerry Marsden? Leslie West? Is it really tragic? No, it’s sad. They lived long lives. Good for them. But their songs, their songs will live on forever…1-2-3!

So, the Fantasy Camp is basically merch, golden circle, access for the superfan. But the paid access you get at a show…is not really access, the acts punch the clock. But at the Fantasy Camp the musicians let down their hair, literally, and hang with you, you get to know them, what’s the value of that…PRICELESS! It’s kind of like baseball fantasy camps, but different. Baseball players are athletes, one-dimensional, stars, but…the musicians WROTE THESE SONGS, the message is key, and their lifestyle is one you’d like to emulate, as you pay attention to every word.

And there’s no doubt in my mind all the performers do it for the money. However, some of the performers are A+. Jeff Beck? That’s like hanging out with Albert Einstein! It doesn’t get any better than that. But, BUT, you realize as the movie unspools that not all the stars appear every year. They don’t make this obvious, but it comes clear. Yet, yet, YET, you go and have fun, memories are made, ones that a very few have access to.

So, at the beginning of the flick Alice Cooper says the guy sitting next to him on the airplane is younger than he is in age, but older in mind-set. Most people live lives of drudgery, but musicians, musicians have FUN! At least they used to. But music is a game of musical chairs. If you’re a hitmaker, the front person, the star, you can cash in your fame for mazuma for the rest of your life. But if you’re a supporting player? I mean what has Tony Franklin been living on all these years? And musicians are famously bad with money, they get it and they blow it, oftentimes with nothing to show.

And from the very first minute I was wondering who would pay to see this movie. I mean to open it in theatres would be ridiculous. What this is is a Netflix movie. And I won’t say it’s riveting at first, but if you’re a member of the congregation, you’re willing to hang in there, for the experience, isn’t that what the show is?

Not that this film will ever become a landmark. But never underestimate the power of stars and music. “Eddie and the Cruisers” was a stiff in the theatre, but on HBO it became a phenomenon!

So, the bottom line is this is a giant advertisement for Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp. But I’d be lying if watching it I didn’t want to go.

I wince when I think how far rock has fallen. Used to be every few years it would be reinvented. But grunge was the last new iteration, and those performers long in the tooth…you’d notice them in the grocery store, but you wouldn’t get hot below the waist.

But once you did.

We all want to rock all night and party every day. Well, at least those reading this screed. And we know the power of the riff. When I heard “Cold Gin”…my insides warmed, my head nodded, THIS IS IT!

Not that I’m a KISS fan, my buddy Gene Simmons is an overconfident blowhard in this flick just like he usually is, but he is humanized when he talks about teaching sixth grade. We all started somewhere, some made it everywhere. We’re dying to know how. We want to get closer to the secret. We want to figure it out. We want some of their magic to rub off on us. And it does in this movie.

What Now?

The wheels of justice turn slowly. Now the Democrats are talking about delaying an impeachment trial as to not hamper Biden in his early days. To turn America around we must employ BUSINESS!

Of course we want Trump impeached and unable to run again, with his pension and protection eliminated. But what we want more is to elevate facts as we decimate falsehoods.

Yes, the big lie.

I want you to read this article:

“The Art of the Lie? The Bigger the Better – Lying as a political tool is hardly new. But a readiness, even enthusiasm, to be deceived has become a driving force in politics around the world, most recently in the United States”: https://nyti.ms/35yMoVb

If you think it’s just about getting rid of Trump, you’re sorely mistaken. I’m sure you saw that story in the news today about the FBI:

“FBI memo warns law enforcement across U.S. of possible armed protests at 50 state capitols – The FBI also says an armed group has threatened to travel to Washington and stage an uprising if Congress removes Trump from office”: https://nbcnews.to/3sfQBqh

This isn’t politics, this is WAR!

That’s right, you can arrest all of the idiots who raided the Capitol last week and there will be many more lining up to replace them. You see these people truly believe they’re saving the country, from “socialism,” from the “radical left,” from an electoral system that “deprived Trump of his due.”

It’s not like they haven’t been talking about it for decades. What do you think all this B.S. about the 2nd Amendment is all about? Meanwhile, Obama didn’t take away their guns.

So, we start with messaging, which Trump and the right do so well. This story must be in the news EVERY DAMN DAY! We cannot let it go, it must be the Benghazi of the left. Yes, something that goes on forever, although in this case there is a true cause underneath, never mind that the five people dead on Wednesday exceeds the four at Benghazi!

Look forward, not back. Yes, we have to analyze what happened, but even more we need to empower ourselves and take action.

Trump has to pay, as do Cruz and Hawley. As for those insane Republican Representatives who refused to wear masks in seclusion on Wednesday, even when asked? They must be outed by name and shamed. This is how far the insanity has gone, even elected officials believe this nonsense. And then you get nitwits like Lauren Boebert who say the House must hear her anti-election result nonsense because she’s got constituents outside protesting? What next, criminals asking for consideration of their co-conspirators at trial? This may sound crazy, but it HAPPENED! https://bit.ly/3i3zWSh

So, we must start with the disinformers. Credit Cumulus today with forcing their talkers to stop spewing nonsense about election fraud: https://wapo.st/2LnTogG Next, Premiere Networks must be jawboned into tempering the message of Rush Limbaugh. For far too long, these corporations have gotten away with heinous activity by saying it’s just business, that money trumps everything. Well, that ship has to be turned around. And if Premiere doesn’t blink, the stations that air Rush must be challenged to kick him off.

But even more, WE MUST KICK FOX NEWS OFF OF DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS!

That’s right, it’s complicated, but…

Some cable companies were granted monopolies. But DirectTV and Dish certainly weren’t, never mind Sling, etc. They need to kick off Fox just like Parler was decimated by Google, Apple and Amazon. As for those systems where Fox remains…operators must give customers the option to OPT OUT! Cable channels like Fox survive on carriage fees. You’re paying for Fox even if you don’t watch it. But no, these cable companies must be shamed into making Fox optional, you either have to pay for it or you get a refund/reduction in your bill if you don’t want it. This will bring Fox to its knees. Or at least hobble it significantly. This is a no-brainer, do we really need to finance the outlet that spews all this crap that gets people believing falsehoods? And OAN and Newsmax too!

And lawsuits… Just like Smartmatic.

“Newsmax, Fox News backtrack on election fraud claims – After Newsmax, Fox News, and One America News received legal notices from voting technology company Smartmatic, Newsmax and Fox News backtracked baseless election fraud claims.”: https://cnn.it/3oFkKgD

We need a team of lawyers combing all this right wing nonsense for possible violations of the law.

As for social media…YOU CAN’T START A FACEBOOK GROUP WITHOUT APPROVAL!

Come on, it’s easy to do, Apple scrutinizes every app in the App Store. Facebook can do it, just like Google ended up eliminating so many links to infringing uses of music. They just have to be pushed into it!

And there has to be a website, maybe even from the GOVERNMENT, that all people can go to to check facts. With explanations and stats re vaccines and so much more. We’ve got to fight with the truth, and the government must take action to distribute it!

Furthermore, NO KUMBAYA, NO PLAYING NICELY, NO COMING TOGETHER! The Republicans never do it, why should the Democrats? Now the Dems have power, stop listening to the do-nothing Republicans and run away with the ball. Ignore their new talk of deficits, stop trying to placate them, now is the opportunity, GO FOR IT!

And Chuck Schumer has to turn into Mitch McConnell. He’s got to get all his troops on the same page, to not only insure passage of legislation, but to hold on to Congress in two years. If there’s too much infighting, it will not be good. As for “taxing and spending”…why can’t the Democrats have a publicity campaign showing the benefits of their efforts, hammered again and again again!

As for the Democratic party, just like the Oscar and Grammy organizations, they must open their doors to youngsters and people of color. Inject new blood or you die.

I want to hear about the insanity of the Republicans EVERY DAMN DAY! To motivate those on the left and to put those on the right on their heels.

Now is the time to get aggressive. I’m not saying to break the law, I’m not advocating violence, I’m agitating for the use of business and left wing power to not only wrest control of institutions, but to point out the bad behavior of the right.

This is the fight of our lifetimes. And either we address it now, or we address it later. But later just might be too late, like with the environment.

I want you FIRED UP! I want you to believe you can MAKE A DIFFERENCE! I want you to TAKE ACTION! The future starts NOW!

I’m listening to the new Morgan Wallen album. I didn’t have a hankering desire, but after listening to Justin Bieber’s comeback single, “Anyone,” which is a return to form, I went to the Spotify chart, the only one that counts, contrary to the wankers at “Billboard” and their supporters in the major label universe, spreading their disinformation crippling the public with “false facts” while the truth goes unknown. And Morgan Wallen dominates the United States Top 50. He’s got twenty two of the fifty, in fact.

I was on some playlist dominated by hip-hop/pop and there were two country tracks, I thought the Luke Combs one was serviceable, but the Morgan Wallen one was excellent, which is why I decided to check out his new project “Dangerous: The Double Album,” and yes it is, a double, with THIRTY SONGS. In an era of singles this is positively retro, knowing right up front that the majority of the tracks will slip through the cracks of recognition, but he wanted to do what he wanted to do, which is the essence of the rock and roll spirit, the one that broke open the music business before every sad still alive classic rocker sold their publishing. First rule of life, INVEST IN YOURSELF! I’ll leave it at that. Other than to say these companies wouldn’t be paying so much if they didn’t think the songs were worth the money.

So what do I know about Morgan Wallen? He broke Covid rules and got bumped from SNL. Although he did get a return performance, not that I watched, why?

But the buzz finally got to me, I decided to check his music out. In principle I had no interest, guy with a mullet who competed on a TV singing show…then again, he is the first “Voice” contestant to become a star. Needless to say, Wallen didn’t win, because these shows are not about the music and a voice is just part of success and most people thought Wallen would flop anyway, but he didn’t. I listened to the hits, I got why he was successful.

So, I was upgrading my laptop to Big Sur, I’d done my iMac a couple of weeks back, as soon as they had the first update, I always wait until the guinea pigs note all the problems, and once they’re fixed, I dive in. However, Big Sur is a bigger change than I anticipated, I needed a manual, which I got, but that’s another post. And I wanted to finish said manual before I updated my MacBook Pro, if for no other reason than I wanted to continue to be able to compare my old settings with my new ones. And it takes approximately half an hour to download the software and another half hour to install it and during that time I started to deal with the plethora of e-mail while I listened to the new Morgan Wallen album. And I was positively STUNNED, it was LISTENABLE!

Admit it, most stuff you immediately want to take off. I guess this makes me a rocker. Yup, listen to Tim Pierce on that Rick Beato clip. But still, I’ve been burned out on recent country too, it shoots too low, the lyrical tropes, it’s too formula, but somehow this Wallen album was working for me, but I wasn’t paying deep attention, but the fact that I could continue to listen was out of the ordinary.

And then I got stuck on this song “Outlaw,” only number seven of the thirty, but it had hooks, I decided to look up the reviews. THEY HATED IT!

I knew they would. Especially “Rolling Stone.” Then again, the magazine’s price went through the stratosphere and the news went behind a paywall online and it has become marginalized. But the superiority of the magazine remains intact, when it’s not kissing old ass.

And the review talked about all the clichés, it was a joke to the writer. But I was loving listening to it. That’s the first criterion for hit music, it must be LISTENABLE! Which is why you check out highly reviewed work and frown, it might be good on paper, but it’s a lousy listening experience.

And the more I researched, the more negative stuff I found.

But this song “Outlaw,” I decided to play it again.

It’s not about the vocal, it’s not about the lyrics, it’s about the PLAYING! Yup, the guitars. They stick out and embed themselves in your brain.

But it gets better, the chorus is incredibly hooky, in a way that seems lost on Active Rock, with the aforementioned guitarwork included… “Outlaw” has got changes.

“Used to be you’d see my face on wanted posters all over this town”

An overused concept, then again, isn’t “Midnight Rider” a classic? Not that “Outlaw” is “Midnight Rider,” but I make my point.

“For leading lovers on until the dawn, just ridin’ in and rollin’ out”

A player. At least he admits it.

But then comes the pre-chorus, a lost art in today’s rock music:

“I never thought I’d get caught

Yeah, at least that’s what I thought”

And there’s even a bridge!

“I was wild as a West Texas wind

Wild as a cowboy’s ever been”

Pre-chorus, bridge…aren’t these the building blocks the Beatles rode to success?

“‘Til you rolled in like Annie Oakley with them guns blazin’

Bang bang baby, them blue eyes got me like

Take me in, lock me up, tell all them boys not to save me”

Sure, you can label the foregoing pedestrian, but it sounds so GOOD! With the descending notes.

“Lightnin’, ain’t trying to fight it

Stole this heart, ain’t that the truth

Guess that makes you an outlaw too

Mmm, yes it does baby”

They’re in it TOGETHER! Wanna get laid tonight? Pay attention to the women tipping their beers, with their faces pointing to the sky as they sing along.

Not that “Outlaw” is wimpy.

Not that it’s “Revolution.”

But sometimes you have to get back to the garden, sometimes you lose the formula and get so far off track that you can’t get back to where you once belonged. And I haven’t listened all the way through, but to the degree I’m in I’m TWO THUMBS UP on “Dangerous: The Double Album.” It’s something I want to play and play again.

And yes, rockers will be bugged by the vocal. But at least Wallen isn’t singing about babies, trucks and church, at least not on this track.

So, you can sit on your high horse, with your experience, believing you know all, but then why aren’t you lighting up the chart? If you’re happy where you are, that’s fine with me, but if you’re jealous…JOIN THE PARTY! Wallen has shown you how to do it. It’s simple, yet not so easily replicated. You want to create magic that reaches listeners, not intermediaries, not critics, at this point even radio isn’t that important. It’s about the relationship between an act and its fans, who are dying to spread the word on anything they believe in.

I’m not sure if I believe in Morgan Wallen, but I’m telling you about it, because I can’t listen to only the oldies, I’m dying for something new, and you just might like it too.

More Insurrection

It’s worse than we thought.

Felice tuned out, my sister Jill was overwhelmed, but when I went hiking in the windy Santa Monica Mountains last night I decided to listen to the “Daily” and that’s when I realized what had happened was more than a party, more than know-nothings wandering around the Capitol, more than a blip to be noted and then ignored: https://nyti.ms/3q669Lv

The podcast scene is overwhelming. And the dirty little secret is most of the productions suck. Just like with music, the barrier to entry is nonexistent, therefore, everybody is playing and it’s hard to separate the good from the bad, then again in today’s world we only want great, there are too many other worthwhile distractions. Furthermore, some of the productions would be completely ignored in other mediums. The true crime? Enough already, it’s more akin to “Dateline” than riveting material. And the advice… When did advice cease being the purview of professionals? Everybody’s a self-proclaimed expert today, and as a result expertise has been devalued. Today’s podcast landscape is akin to the television era which Bruce Springsteen sang about, the one with 57 channels and nothing on. These are the glory days of podcast distribution. As for the quality of the content? We’re far from the golden age of television, which we’ve been living in for this past decade, if not longer. How is it a fifties joke, derided by the Boss and so many more, became the epicenter of the culture? Via high quality content. Yes, a lot of the dreck that gets attention is falling by the wayside with the death of cable, the systems will no longer support channels with few eyeballs that are barely different from the inane links you see at the bottom of web pages. And just to throw some gasoline on the fire, we’re in the same situation in music. The delivery system has been perfected, but the content is in the abyss. Today’s viewing assignment is Rick Beato’s YouTube episode with Tim Pierce, “Is Today’s Music just a laptop and a Celebrity?” https://bit.ly/2Xt19nP Watch to see Pierce delineate the musical changes that elevated hip-hop and killed rock, as well as the economic forces changing the landscape. Todd Rundgren said he turns off the sound when the musical acts come on SNL. Did you see Dua Lipa? Execrable. Also, Todd and Tim say that in today’s marketplace, the music is just a jumping off point to making money in other avenues. You want your music business insight, here you go.

So…

Other than technology, music hasn’t driven the culture in eons. Oh yes, hip-hop has influence, but nowhere near as much as Fox News. You don’t see hip-hop fans out protesting. Then again, they helped Democrats win in Georgia, but let’s not get caught up in the minutiae. The point is, up until half a decade or so ago, the internet drove the culture, and the internet is today’s story. Trump got kicked off of Facebook and Twitter. And that’s a start. But how do we kill misinformation? The key is the gateway, controlled in this case by Apple and Google. That is the story, the yin and the yang. These companies have too much power, but they can also exercise the power they’ve got for good. As in hobbling Parler. If you’re not in the App Store, you’re on the road to death. Unfortunately, you can still get on Android devices without being in the Google Play store, proving once again how Android is an inefficient, unsafe, free-for-all where your privacy is at risk and…Android dominates, but the money is all in iOS. But without making this a debate about the pros and cons of Apple, the question is how do we stamp out misinformation, conspiracy theories? Distribution is king, it’s never content, when you hear it’s about the content roll your eyes, those people are completely out of touch. If you can’t see or hear it, it doesn’t matter how good it is. I give you for example Oscar winner Bryan Fogel’s new movie, “The Dissident,” which fully examines the Khashoggi murder, the big streaming platforms wouldn’t buy it, because they were afraid of political blowback, especially in the Middle East, where they all do business, read about it here: https://nyti.ms/3q6eA9O So the truth is we can crack down on misinformation, we need to get the truth to all the people, then we can debate the facts, and right now the control lies with Apple and Google, they have their hands on the spigot. Sure, you can employ your web browser, but apps are more efficient. I could go on, but if you need more, just read this article: https://nyti.ms/2LC8peF

So, if you’ve continued to pay attention to Wednesday’s shenanigans, you’re now aware of the violence involved, the breaking of furniture, the stealing of property. These people weren’t just roaming the building, they were going into elected officials’ offices, plundering, even taking laptops.

And today I fire up my phone and I see…

“The Capitol mob desecrated a historical workplace — and left behind some disturbing artifacts”: https://wapo.st/3q9jClB

And I’m loath to link to MSNBC, for fear that people might not click through, but you should. You can even forget the commentary, just look at the video:

“Must-see new video shows Capitol riot was way worse than we thought”: https://on.msnbc.com/3oqbehj

This was not a frat party, this was violence, this was scary, furthermore, one of their goals was to KILL PENCE!

Come on, watch this, do you have any question that if they’d found him they would have done it? OF COURSE THEY WOULD HAVE! When you’re a member of a gang, when things get heated, when there’s peer pressure, you’d be amazed at what people will do. Scratch any adult male and they’ll sheepishly tell you things they’ve done spurred on by the group that they now regret.

And yes, these rioters were racist, and also anti-Semitic: https://nyti.ms/3owhPH7

But now they’re going to arrest some of the perpetrators, they already have. And what will be the result…ALMOST NOTHING! This is America in a nutshell, the little people commit physical crimes which are caught on video and are penalized, but the real criminals, those who incite their minions to take action, SKATE!

This is why Trump should be punished. But not only Trump, but so many more. I point you to yesterday’s piece by Frank Rich, one of our clearest thinkers:

“The Trashing of the Republic – The only response to the carnage in Washington is to banish Trump and his traitorous collaborators from civil society.”: https://nym.ag/2XnnLWS

You need to read this, because Frank Rick takes no prisoners, he lays it all out, the culpable MUST PAY! Financier Stephen Schwartzman’s name needs to be removed from the New York Public Library, Hawley and his compatriots must be ostracized…

You see it’s polite society. Where money rules. And those in the media landscape are afraid to offend anybody with cash or power or both, they’re always pulling punches. But not Frank Rich. Also, everybody who lets bad behavior pass…when it’s all over, they express surprise for what they’ve enabled, THESE PEOPLE MUST PAY TOO! The culpability goes so deep, unless we’re willing to rebuild from the ground up, without the cronies of yore, we’re never going to have true progress.

Which is why Trump must pay. Forget that he’s gonna be out of office in less than two weeks. We have to show that this behavior cannot be tolerated. Never again. We’ve got to scare the living daylights out of politicians and their ignorant followers, just like we needed to scare the living daylights out of Wall Street in 2008, THESE PEOPLE HAVE TO PAY PENALTIES! Michael Cohen goes to jail, but the man he was working for goes scot-free. THIS IS JUSTICE?

So we’ve got to keep this story alive. That’s the other place where the internet has a nexus here. Not only do online platforms allow the distribution of falsehoods, not only are they utilized to drive action, they generate so much content that nothing survives, everything’s yesterday’s news, we are jaded and overwhelmed and for most people Wednesday’s insanity is already in the rearview mirror, if it had any impact at all.

“In Capital, a G.O.P. Crisis. At the R.N.C. Meeting, a Trump Celebration. – Party members at a gathering of the Republican National Committee endorsed President Trump as the man to lead the party forward, ignoring the turmoil in Washington.”: https://nyti.ms/3qi4sLh

I came home from my hike and read this and my head spun! As for Rush Limbaugh, the right’s cheerleader in chief, he blamed the riot on the DEMOCRATS! I kid you not! https://bit.ly/3blXOPK

Most people don’t get it. Wednesday’s travesty was not a one-off, it was a big step forward for the cause, a revolution, truly, wherein the “criminals” of the left are squeezed out of power and the righteous ignorant, racist and myopic are installed in D.C! It would be laughable if it wasn’t so serious.

But the story is already losing traction. You just can’t keep a story alive in today’s world. That is job one today, to keep this story going, and to have those at fault penalized, so that others will be afraid of taking this path in the future.

It’s not like we weren’t warned. It’s not like this came out of the blue. Trump and right wing media have been agitating for this in plain sight for years! But everyone on the left thought it couldn’t happen here, meanwhile, for the past four years Trump and his cronies have done indelible harm to our land, our treaties, the environment, the list goes on and on…but if it’s done on paper, through the legal system, somehow it’s okay, but finally the line was crossed and people can truly see what these people have been up to.

IGNORE THE RIGHT!

This is part of the marginalization process. Don’t even argue, just put your foot down and rally those on the team. The left’s team is far larger than the right’s, as proven in the popular vote in the presidential election, despite the right’s efforts at curbing voting.

This is not about coming together. Does the high school principal try to understand the delinquent’s point of view, sympathize with them, let them off the hook? OF COURSE NOT! And do we wait for laws to be broken before we take corrective measures? We shouldn’t, otherwise law enforcement would stop stalking and eliminating terrorist threats, they’d just wait for the carnage and arrest the offenders!

This is a tipping point. This is not business as usual. The Republican party is not what it once was. Not only is it the do-nothing party in Congress, its main goal being to stymie any legislation, any action by the left, it is driven by those without standing, the poor, the working class, the tax hating religious zealots WHO ARE SUPPORTED BY FAT CAT MONEY!

The tail is wagging the dog. The corporate money fuels these actions with a desire to eliminate taxes and government oversight, but the truth is the great unwashed masses, the DEPLORABLES, some with money, some without, drive the Republican party today. Try to be reasonable and you’re primaried right out of office. And then we’ve got Hawley and Cruz and the other nitwits who believe that their only role is to satiate their base, right and wrong, the law, they don’t apply, not whatsoever. The fact that we’re debating the legitimacy of the election? UNFATHOMABLE!

So now is not the time to relax, now is the time to keep up the pressure. Pelosi saw the light, she immediately pushed for impeachment, ridding our nation of Trump. As for McConnell? He responded with some B.S. about process. Screw process, Trump doesn’t care about it. These people have to be shamed into doing the right thing. They must be revealed. I don’t care if they can be friendly, nice at dinner, THEY’RE RUINING THE COUNTRY!

Up is down. Right is wrong. Facts are seen as untruths. Experts are ignored. This is a cancer that’s eating at our society. At least John Dean switched sides and spoke the truth, then again back in ’74 the Republican Senators told Nixon he had to go. Today, all the elected officials on the right are afraid of Trump, afraid of his base. Is this any way to run a country? NO!!
