Made My Day

Well I know it sounds funny
But I’m not in it for the money, no

"Overnight Sensation"

Hi Bob,

I’d like to invite you to the House of Blues, Sunset Strip, Friday, October 21st. Last November, my old band, the Raspberries, got together for the first time in 32 years at the behest of the new HOB opening in Cleveland, Ohio. It’s the four original members, Wally Bryson, Jim Bonfanti, Dave Smalley and myself, kind of a novelty in this day and age, I know. Well, we sold the date out in four or five minutes, and people flew in from all over the country as well  from England, Japan, Holland and a few other places. We  originally thought we’d just play one show and be done with it, but we ended up having so much fun that we decided to go try the HOB in Chicago, and  BB Kings in New York and a few more select dates around the country. I get your newsletter so I’m pretty familiar with your taste in music, and you wrote some really nice stuff about us not too long ago, so I thought I’d drop you a note. We’ve been getting rave reviews and I think you’d really enjoy an evening of great melodies, sung by people who can sing, and played by  the actual guys who were on the records (Wow, What a concept!). We’re not a nostalgia act,  and I guarantee you "Go All The Way" and "Overnight Sensation" and"I Wanna Be With You" etc. sound better now than they did in 1973. If you’d like me to pull some tickets for you, just let me know. In any case, thanks for being the voice of sanity in a world where things just keep getting stranger and stranger every day.

All the best,
Eric Carmen
