Conniving bastards rape and pillage and decide to give something back.

They call these people politicians.

The layman can never understand why these officials do such heinous things. 
Why Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoes restrictions on dietary supplements and then
signs an eight million dollar deal with a magazine promoting them .  You see,
that’s how he always did it, that’s how he got ahead, he doesn’t see anything
wrong with his behavior.

It’s not so different with Tom DeLay.

And it’s not any different with Democrats.

Being honest in American means you’re a chump.  We revere dishonest pricks
like Bill Gates, who capitalized on the ideas of others and used monopolistic
policies to ensure his status as one of the world’s richest men.  And, having
achieved this lofty position, Mr. Gates pontificates, as if he ushered in the
graphical user interface, as if Microsoft Windows’ security problems were the
PEOPLE’S fault.

There’s an elite ruling class that feels ENTITLED to its position.  As if
they DESERVE IT!  To the point where our President, who himself was born rich, is
eliminating estate taxes so no one in his position, born to an insanely
wealthy family, will ever be penalized again.

And these people, the scions of industry, under the aegis of doing good for
the world, just line their pockets further.

And everybody’s in on it.  Even Fisher & Diaz.  Yup, David wants money.  Did
Rico really do right by the family of the deceased roller blader or was he too
lining his pockets.

We have a culture based not on doing right by your brother, but getting
ahead.  If that means someone else has to miss out, so be it, you’ve got to eat,
right?

If you don’t pay the stations millions of dollars in payola, somebody else
will, and you’ll be left behind.

And Eliot Spitzer comes down on you, but is he really just like Rudy
Giuliani, looking to run for office, a man with no hubris.

Meanwhile, the rest of America, those not born with silver spoons in their
mouths, not entrepreneurs, the wage earners, they sit in front of the box,
looking to be entertained.

And the purveyors think they’re idiots.  We have staged reality shows like
David Foster’s.  Ridiculous comeback shows like the one featuring INXS.  I mean
you could replace David Lee Roth with Sammy Hagar since the act was about
Eddie Van Halen…then again, COULD YOU?  Is there ANYBODY who believes Van Hagar is as good as real Van Halen?  The Doors couldn’t survive without Morrison
and INXS can’t survive without Hutchence.  They only made one of him.  But Mark
Burnett is like Arnold, he feels so strong, he believes he can WILL the public
to believe in somebody else, as if they can’t tell the truth.

The truth is being a lying conniving son of a bitch catches up with you.

Maybe Edgar Allan Poe had it right, with "The Telltale Heart".  Even if your
heinous acts are not discovered, you self-combust.  Humans cannot live with
themselves if they do wrong.  Oh, they TELL themselves they can, but they’re
tortured.

But most times the truth outs.

We see it in government right now.

It’s always the little things that slip you up.

Valerie Plame is going to tarnish the White House.  Has already.  Whereas all
the men and women who’ve died in vain in Iraq have not.  But now, with Karl
Rove caught in the crosshairs, all of the Administration’s other duplicitous
acts are being questioned.

Karma.  Live in California long enough and you believe in it.  Those trying
to get ahead, cutting corners, abusing people, they pay.  Whereas those who are
compassionate, who are truly there for others, they reap the benefits.

Don’t only look at the financial losses.  Look at health issues.  Family
issues.  Death.  Might take a long time to take hold, but karma always wins in the
end.

Looked like a simple filmic device.  Nate having sex with Maggie whilst
Brenda showed up at the church service unannounced, where they were supposed to be.

But that’s the way it always happens.  You get caught.  Might not be the
first lie, but when you can’t lay your life bare and feel good about it, be
honest, it’s only a matter of time until you’re tripped up.
