Let me get this straight, MTV viewers have CABLE but not COMPUTERS?<\/p>\n
And they’re certainly not doing it for the ratings.\u00c2\u00a0 They’re gonna be horrific.<\/p>\n
They’re doing it for the spin.\u00c2\u00a0 Kind of like community service for a teenager who does something heinous.\u00c2\u00a0 The kid doesn’t regret that he DID it, he just regrets that he was CAUGHT!<\/p>\n
And the business community doesn’t watch the damn channel anyway.\u00c2\u00a0 So, MTV can get the lame press to print their mea culpa, point to this apology in the future and make like nothing happened.<\/p>\n
But something DID happen!<\/p>\n
It’s kind of like a car accident.\u00c2\u00a0 You really really wish it didn’t occur.\u00c2\u00a0 You replay the scenario over and over in your head endlessly.\u00c2\u00a0 You even fantasize what could BE if you didn’t crash.<\/p>\n
But you did.\u00c2\u00a0 And you’ve got to live with the consequences.<\/p>\n
MTV’s been fucking up for over a decade.\u00c2\u00a0 I just saw an announcement in the paper that they’re casting for "Real World XVII".\u00c2\u00a0 That’s SEVENTEEN if you’re roman numeral-challenged.\u00c2\u00a0 They care as much about music as your PARENTS!\u00c2\u00a0 To tell you the truth, they don’t want to HEAR the awful sound.\u00c2\u00a0 But it’s worse.\u00c2\u00a0 If there’s a way to make money pretending that they like it, oh, they’ll do that.<\/p>\n
Like Def Leppard said, it’s too late, too late for love.\u00c2\u00a0 This apology is one in name only.\u00c2\u00a0 They’re running the shows in garbage time, laughing how they pulled one over on us.\u00c2\u00a0 But, on one Saturday in July, as the old star they once made used to say, they revealed their true colors.\u00c2\u00a0 When everybody was watching.\u00c2\u00a0 A band-aid’s not gonna make any difference.\u00c2\u00a0 And there’s no turning back. <\/p>\n
