Experience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So we&#8217;re at the Sherman Oaks Galleria waiting in line to buy tickets to <br \/>&quot;Crash&quot;.\u00c2\u00a0 And when we get close to the window, she notices it.\u00c2\u00a0 The price.\u00c2\u00a0 $10.50. <br \/>\u00c2\u00a0Now she can afford it, and actually, I paid, and to tell you the truth I had <br \/>no problem with it, I mean I pay $14.00 at the ArcLight, but the price stuck <br \/>with me.\u00c2\u00a0 I mean they always inch it up by fifty cents.\u00c2\u00a0 To the point where <br \/>they finally hit ten bucks.\u00c2\u00a0 Now OVER ten bucks?\u00c2\u00a0 Why exactly?\u00c2\u00a0 Was there any <br \/>improvement in the theatre?\u00c2\u00a0 Was it some kind of new projection system, was it <br \/>going to WOW me?\u00c2\u00a0 Oh well, I don&#8217;t go to the movies that much anyway.<\/p>\n<p>And after last night, I&#8217;m not sure if I&#8217;ll go ever again.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, don&#8217;t get me wrong.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ll go.\u00c2\u00a0 But, like some angry punk song, I want to <br \/>burn the multiplex DOWN!\u00c2\u00a0 Because of the fucking COMMERCIALS!<\/p>\n<p>Like I told you, I really didn&#8217;t mind the $10.50.\u00c2\u00a0 But for the $10.50 can you <br \/>at least RESPECT ME?\u00c2\u00a0 Try to make my experience nice, since you DEPEND ON ME??<\/p>\n<p>This is the point Mel Karmazin doesn&#8217;t get.\u00c2\u00a0 Nor Clear Channel Entertainment <br \/>for that matter.\u00c2\u00a0 If I&#8217;m PAYING, if I&#8217;ve joined the CLUB, you&#8217;ve got to treat <br \/>me with RESPECT!\u00c2\u00a0 Instead of bombarding me with the heinous words of your <br \/>corporate &quot;partners&quot;, you should be GIVING ME SOMETHING!\u00c2\u00a0 Like I&#8217;m supposed to respect you, feel sorry for you, even LIKE you when you&#8217;ve plastered the joint <br \/>with profit-making DRECK??\u00c2\u00a0 And I don&#8217;t want to hear one more fucking time that <br \/>it&#8217;s about lowering the price of tickets.\u00c2\u00a0 That&#8217;s double-speak if I&#8217;ve ever <br \/>heard it.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s not about lowering the price of tickets, it&#8217;s PURE GREED!\u00c2\u00a0 Maybe <br \/>it starts with the artist&#8230;then again, maybe that&#8217;s why nobody believes in <br \/>today&#8217;s artists.\u00c2\u00a0 And maybe why after you&#8217;ve seen the Spice Girls\/Britney <br \/>extravaganza once, you don&#8217;t have to see it AGAIN!\u00c2\u00a0 Kind of like the peep show, or <br \/>the freak show at the carnival&#8230;they get you once, you want to see enough to <br \/>be an expert, talk with authority, but you don&#8217;t want to go BACK!!<\/p>\n<p>Ads for TV shows&#8230;\u00c2\u00a0 Shit, if I wanted to watch TV, I would have STAYED HOME!<\/p>\n<p>And then Coke.\u00c2\u00a0 So you dress it up like a little movie, with good-looking <br \/>twentysomethings frolicking in the sunset&#8230;you think we don&#8217;t see the BOTTLES?\u00c2\u00a0 <br \/>You think we haven&#8217;t been subjected to enough marketing messages that we don&#8217;t <br \/>know it&#8217;s an AD??\u00c2\u00a0 Do you think we don&#8217;t know that Coke is one of the biggest <br \/>scams of all TIME??\u00c2\u00a0 Selling a penny of syrup for a buck??\u00c2\u00a0 Things don&#8217;t go <br \/>better with Coke.\u00c2\u00a0 Oh, they might go better with COCAINE!\u00c2\u00a0 But I&#8217;ve NEVER EVER <br \/>had an experience enhanced by Coca-Cola.\u00c2\u00a0 Furthermore, it makes you FAT!\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s <br \/>kind of like smoking ads.\u00c2\u00a0 The cool people in the spots DON&#8217;T EVEN USE THE <br \/>PRODUCT!\u00c2\u00a0 If you want to hang with them, you&#8217;d better ABSTAIN!<\/p>\n<p>They went on and on.\u00c2\u00a0 To the point where there were only two TRAILERS!\u00c2\u00a0 I <br \/>mean just when we were bitching about twenty minutes of previews they made it <br \/>WORSE??\u00c2\u00a0 Like I said, are they in touch with their customers AT ALL???<\/p>\n<p>Movie attendance has been off for months.\u00c2\u00a0 They keep saying it&#8217;s about shitty <br \/>movies.\u00c2\u00a0 And I think that&#8217;s a factor.\u00c2\u00a0 But the other theory is more <br \/>significant&#8230;people would rather watch the flicks at home, on their time.\u00c2\u00a0 I mean it&#8217;s <br \/>not like I could call Pacific Theatres and tell them to hold the screening, <br \/>I&#8217;m running a bit late, traffic is HELL!\u00c2\u00a0 I got there on time, to watch a <br \/>MOVIE, but having gotten me there through subterfuge, as a captive, they threw <br \/>marketing spot after marketing spot at me.<\/p>\n<p>You can&#8217;t steal the movie theatre experience.\u00c2\u00a0 Just like you can&#8217;t steal the <br \/>concert experience.\u00c2\u00a0 Will these motherfuckers stop BLAMING the audience for <br \/>revenue decline and start RESPECTING the audience, looking what THEY, the <br \/>purveyors, are doing wrong instead of bizarrely blaming their CUSTOMERS??<\/p>\n<p>Your business has no RIGHT to exist.\u00c2\u00a0 It depends on patrons.\u00c2\u00a0 Patrons who <br \/>don&#8217;t need your product to survive.\u00c2\u00a0 You&#8217;d
