Includes cool cover of Marvin Gaye&#8217;s &quot;Inner City Blues&quot; and the Les McCann and Eddie Harris track &quot;Compared To What&quot;, along with some other stellar tracks.\u00c2\u00a0 The music will definitely take you on a little trip inside your head.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s timeless.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Have you HEARD this fucking record?<\/p>\n<p>No, I don&#8217;t mean the Brian Auger remake, which is definitely good, but the Les McCann and Eddie Harris original.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s STUPENDOUS!<\/p>\n<p>For those of you working at major labels, where to download P2P is to get fired, let me tell you how you do it.\u00c2\u00a0 You search on the act&#8217;s name.\u00c2\u00a0 And the song title.\u00c2\u00a0 And the act&#8217;s name AND song title.\u00c2\u00a0 Lord only knows why each of these render different results, but they do.<\/p>\n<p>I was just casually trying to complete Brian Auger&#8217;s &quot;Closer To It&quot;.\u00c2\u00a0 Well, maybe not casually.\u00c2\u00a0 I get OBSESSIVE about completion.\u00c2\u00a0 I want the WHOLE ALBUM!\u00c2\u00a0 Kind of like owning every record in a band&#8217;s catalog.\u00c2\u00a0 Remember THOSE days?<\/p>\n<p>And in the results that came up, I found the Les McCann\/Eddie Harris original.\u00c2\u00a0 And took it.<\/p>\n<p>And another thing about using P2P.\u00c2\u00a0 The metadata is oftentimes incorrect.\u00c2\u00a0 So, after importing all the tracks you oftentimes have to adjust song titles and band names.\u00c2\u00a0 And I&#8217;m doing this, with about twenty tracks I&#8217;ve just downloaded, and I&#8217;m sampling them for duplicates.\u00c2\u00a0 It would not be uncommon for a track to be LABELED Les McCann\/Eddie Harris and actually be the remake.<\/p>\n<p>So I click on play and&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Fuck, it&#8217;s like being transported to the hippest club in the universe.\u00c2\u00a0 Not one based on stardom, on image, but on pure PLAYING!<\/p>\n<p>Remember when it was about PLAYING?\u00c2\u00a0 When there were no machines and you had to have the rhythm IN YOU??\u00c2\u00a0 These cats are laying it down with such emotion, such fervor, that you&#8217;re not only mesmerized, you&#8217;re in DISBELIEF!\u00c2\u00a0 You feel they&#8217;ve GOT to run out of gas, the track HAS to disappoint.\u00c2\u00a0 But, it keeps getting better and BETTER!<\/p>\n<p>Oh, they&#8217;re off on a tear.\u00c2\u00a0 With piano and horn.\u00c2\u00a0 And then, in the middle, there&#8217;s even a VOCAL!<\/p>\n<p>Ten years from now people won&#8217;t want MOST of what&#8217;s in the Top Forty today.\u00c2\u00a0 But this forty year old music.\u00c2\u00a0 It KILLS!\u00c2\u00a0 I feel like an archaeologist, who&#8217;s found BURIED TREASURE!<\/p>\n<blockquote dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\">\n<p>The album is entitled &quot;Swiss Movement&quot;.\u00c2\u00a0 It was recorded live at the 1969 Montreux Jazz Festival.\u00c2\u00a0 Listening to this one knows why live albums used to sell.\u00c2\u00a0 There&#8217;s an immediacy, a power, that could NEVER be captured in a studio.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Terry Currier: Highly recommend the &quot;Closer To It&quot; album.
