Pepper&quot; and &quot;The Wall&quot;, one can argue strongly that the album has allowed too many self-indulgent artists to go on ad infinitum, making music that in most cases will never be listened to, so they can feel satisfied.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, the most backward people are the artists.\u00c2\u00a0 Even worse than the labels.\u00c2\u00a0 They want to jet back to some land where they did nothing but sit around the house getting inspired whilst others took care of their business, ripping them off along the way.\u00c2\u00a0 This is paradise?<\/p>\n<p>Oh, don&#8217;t get your knickers in a twist, don&#8217;t tell me how you do it differently, how many Facebook and Twitter followers you&#8217;ve got.\u00c2\u00a0 The point is, are you willing to sustain on THE MUSIC?\u00c2\u00a0 Are you willing to acknowledge that your customer is your fan, not TV, radio or the media?<\/p>\n<p>That old paradigm is overrated.\u00c2\u00a0 You know, the one in which your name is plastered everywhere and you think you&#8217;re hot shit but you can&#8217;t fill the House of Blues.\u00c2\u00a0 Do you want to be rich or famous? Chances are, you&#8217;ll be a lot wealthier for a much longer time if you focus on your fans.\u00c2\u00a0 Once hooked, they&#8217;ll give you their money time and again, follow you for years.\u00c2\u00a0 Does anybody want Katy Perry NEXT YEAR?\u00c2\u00a0 They don&#8217;t want Jewel now!<\/p>\n<p>By releasing a track every week, Kanye is keeping himself foremost in the minds of his fans.\u00c2\u00a0 They&#8217;re going to eagerly anticipate the releases, they&#8217;re going to check them out.\u00c2\u00a0 Who can&#8217;t check out a track a week?\u00c2\u00a0 But get me to listen to a whole album?\u00c2\u00a0 But in fifty two weeks, that&#8217;s FIVE albums&#8230;\u00c2\u00a0 Sure, newbies can always go back and check out the previous releases, but fans want &#8217;em now.<\/p>\n<p>And we live in a singles world.<\/p>\n<p>And if you think you&#8217;re making a statement&#8230;\u00c2\u00a0 You&#8217;re cracking me up.<\/p>\n<p>And speaking of cracking me up&#8230;\u00c2\u00a0 Did you check out the marriage between Kanye&#8217;s Tweets and &quot;New Yorker&quot; cartoons?<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"margin-right: 0px;\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<div style=\"margin-left: 40px;\">\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2010\/08\/03\/kanye-west-new-yorker_n_668894.html\">Kanye West&#8217;s Tweets Matched With New Yorker Cartoons<\/a><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This shit don&#8217;t make the mainstream, but it&#8217;s vacuumed up online.\u00c2\u00a0 The mainstream is a day-old smorgasbord, sometimes two days old&#8230;\u00c2\u00a0 Online is immediate, like your single.\u00c2\u00a0 HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">PANDORA ADDS GENRE-BASED STATIONS<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Hallelfuckingujah!<\/p>\n<p>Took forever to build a station on Pandora.\u00c2\u00a0 What we always wanted was a pre-built station that we could tune into and skip the tracks we don&#8217;t like.\u00c2\u00a0 Pandora has finally delivered this.<\/p>\n<p>Years after Slacker.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, Slacker is far superior to Pandora.\u00c2\u00a0 There are stations, they&#8217;re curated, you can loosen or tighten them so you get known cuts or unknown.\u00c2\u00a0 But Tim Westergren is a force of nature, he got Pandora in the public eye, whereas the face of Slacker is..?<\/p>\n<p>So marketing isn&#8217;t completely dead.\u00c2\u00a0 Especially when it&#8217;s done under the guise of benefiting the consumer.\u00c2\u00a0 Yup, that was Westergren&#8217;s campaign, please help me defeat the copyright bullies, please help me save Internet Radio!\u00c2\u00a0 Westergren made it a crusade, a protest, us vs. them, positively brilliant.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">RAY LAMONTAGNE &quot;BEG STEAL OR BORROW&quot;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I heard this on the Sirius Spectrum.\u00c2\u00a0 Blew my mind, it had the intimacy of the seventies, felt like an updated Stephen Stills song.\u00c2\u00a0 But then I read a review that talked how lame the lyrics of this album were and now I&#8217;m creeped out listening to the track.\u00c2\u00a0 Reminds me of America compared to Crosby, Stills &amp; Nash.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">WILLIAM TOPLEY<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I know this guy.\u00c2\u00a0 He got his chance with the Blessing and then subsequently blew it with solo albums with inept production and now&#8230;this.<\/p>\n<p>Self-released, this has got no traction.\u00c2\u00a0 But it&#8217;s SO GOOD!<\/p>\n<p>Sure, this material is not all new.\u00c2\u00a0 And it is a cliche to record your &quot;greatest hits&quot; acoustically, but I actually don&#8217;t know all these cuts and the feel is just amazing and the lyrics run circles around Ray LaMontagne.\u00c2\u00a0 But Ray&#8217;s the fresh face&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"margin-right: 0px;\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<div style=\"margin-left: 40px;\"><a title=\"William Topley Music web site\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.williamtopley.com\/frameset.htm?nomp3=done\">William Topley Music web site<\/a><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">J.J.
