{"id":3271,"date":"2010-08-22T12:29:00","date_gmt":"2010-08-22T20:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lefsetz.com\/wordpress\/?p=3271"},"modified":"2012-05-09T07:23:06","modified_gmt":"2012-05-09T15:23:06","slug":"tm-full-disclosure-pricing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lefsetz.com\/wordpress\/2010\/08\/22\/tm-full-disclosure-pricing\/","title":{"rendered":"TM Full Disclosure Pricing"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote style=\"margin-right: 0px;\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<div style=\"margin-left: 40px;\">@irvingazoff: New TM full disclosure pricing! http:\/\/www.ticketmaster.com\/event\/0D00448D1A496EA9?brand=&amp;tm_link=tm_homeA_g7&amp;hot_ticket_brand=home<\/p>\n<p>Sat 21 Aug 22:38<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I clicked on the link.<\/p>\n<p>And, for the record, I guess Irving wasn&#8217;t using Tweetdeck, with its automatic URL shortener.\u00c2\u00a0 Yes, it&#8217;s magic, there are programs which automatically compress long web addresses into short ones.\u00c2\u00a0 Although Tweetdeck does it automatically, you can also go to: http:\/\/bit.ly\/ if you want to.\u00c2\u00a0 Just plug the long URL into the window, hit &quot;Shorten&quot;, and voila!, a new mini-link appears below.\u00c2\u00a0 And if you place your mouse in the right-hand side of the green window containing the shortened URL, a blue bar slides out that says &quot;Click to Copy&quot;.\u00c2\u00a0 Hit that and now the mini-URL is stored in your clipboard, for posting anywhere, not only on Twitter, but in e-mail and other missives.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, you can criticize Irving for not knowing the above.\u00c2\u00a0 But that&#8217;s the wrong tack.\u00c2\u00a0 The goal today is to get everybody to play, to get everybody in on the discussion, so we can all communicate together.\u00c2\u00a0 The cool kids versus the nerds, the insiders versus the outsiders, that game&#8217;s history, there&#8217;s always something you don&#8217;t know&#8230;\u00c2\u00a0 Be nice as you bring others up to speed.<\/p>\n<p>And, to boot, the long URL Irving tweeted fit within the 140 character Twitter limit, so no harm, no foul.\u00c2\u00a0 But what did he MEAN!<\/p>\n<p>And now we come to the real meaning of this missive, its raison d&#8217;etre.<\/p>\n<p>I got this e-mail from Michael Witthaus asking:<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"margin-right: 0px;\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<div style=\"margin-left: 40px;\">\n&quot;Bob-<\/p>\n<p>Do you have any idea what Irving&#8217;s tweet about TM full disclosure pricing is about?&quot;<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>My response was:<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I think he means when you click on the price, it shows all the fees, etc, so you&#8217;re not confused\/surprised when you check out.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>And I copied Irving on this response, and he replied:<\/p>\n<blockquote dir=\"ltr\" style=\"margin-right: 0px;\">\n<div style=\"margin-left: 40px;\">\n&quot;Correct.\u00c2\u00a0 Since acts, promoters and venues are fighting full disclosure all-in pricing that consumers want, TM is unilaterally doing this.\u00c2\u00a0 Needless to say a major promoter has already written to us demanding we stop.
