eyes on the bottom line.\u00c2\u00a0 <br \/>Wind-Up is an operation wherein no fee or distance is too large if the company BELIEVES in something.\u00c2\u00a0 Wind-Up is the kind of company EMI SHOULD be.\u00c2\u00a0 Something nimble, that signs few artists it believes in and doesn&#8217;t give up on them.<\/p>\n<p>Not that Wind-Up wastes money.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s a lean operation.\u00c2\u00a0 Wherein employees are <br \/>allowed leeway, they&#8217;re trusted.\u00c2\u00a0 The OPPOSITE of EMI.\u00c2\u00a0 God, if you hire <br \/>people and constantly look over their shoulder you&#8217;ve got a recipe for DISASTER!\u00c2\u00a0 <br \/>Wind-Up is a team.\u00c2\u00a0 EMI is a collection of fiefdoms.<\/p>\n<p>Wind-Up signs what&#8217;s not fashionable, knowing that there&#8217;s a true audience <br \/>for it.\u00c2\u00a0 EMI signs, OVERPAYS, for what&#8217;s trendy and is then stunned when it&#8217;s <br \/>not instantly successful.<\/p>\n<p>Wind-Up believes in rock.\u00c2\u00a0 The kind of heartland rock that never dies.\u00c2\u00a0 EMI <br \/>signs acts like Courtney Love, who had a moment at best, and then front-loads <br \/>the promotion to no effect.<\/p>\n<p>Wind-Up looks for alternatives.\u00c2\u00a0 EMI plays by the rules.<\/p>\n<p>If ANYTHING should happen here, Wind-Up should buy EMI!<\/p>\n<p>But, as the old cliche states, EVERYTHING&#8217;S for sale.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s just a matter of <br \/>price.\u00c2\u00a0 Who WOULDN&#8217;T take $125 million for a company with only two hit acts.\u00c2\u00a0 <br \/>Both of which are in question.\u00c2\u00a0 The guy in Evanescence who wrote the hits <br \/>having left the band and Scott Stapp starting over as a solo act.<\/p>\n<p>This demonstrates that EMI doesn&#8217;t get it.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s about REPLICATING the <br \/>Wind-Up model, not BUYING IT!\u00c2\u00a0 But EMI is too caught up in short term quarterly Wall Street cycles.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s got no long term outlook.\u00c2\u00a0 Hell, blaming your lousy <br \/>quarter on the slippage of release dates of Coldplay and Gorillaz seems to <br \/>indicate you ONLY have Coldplay and Gorillaz.<\/p>\n<p>Then again, if they buy Wind-Up, they can mess with the numbers one more <br \/>time.\u00c2\u00a0 Which might be the only thing EMI is good for, stuff like shipping catalog <br \/>records with endless dating.\u00c2\u00a0 They&#8217;re constantly putting band-aids on a <br \/>business that needs a tourniquet.<\/p>\n<p>EMI is all old wavers.\u00c2\u00a0 Who don&#8217;t get the new game.\u00c2\u00a0 Which is find REAL acts <br \/>and develop them over time.<\/p>\n<p>And you wonder why the major labels are in trouble&#8230;
